Consultation on the development of a new HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Charter

In the last Budget the Chancellor announced that HMRC will be working with interested parties to begin work to develop a new taxpayer's charter.

HMRC today published the first formal consultation document (published in long and short versions) on the scope of the new charter which can be found in the Consultations webpage.

The consultation will be open until 11 September.

HMRC has therefore withdrawn the old Inland Revenue and HM Customs and Excise charters from this website with immediate effect. They will be replaced by the new charter around summer 2009.

The short version of the consultation document can be produced in Braille, audio, large print and in the Welsh language.
